And now for some shameless self promotion…
I was thrilled to be the recipient of a writing award at the recent Canadian Farm Writers Federation (CFWF) annual banquet. A news release I wrote last year called “What gardeners can learn from farmers” won a bronze in the Alice Switzer award category for news release writing.
The news release was written for AGCare to promote the release of a new education brochure featuring Canadian gardening expert Mark Cullen, who offers tips on how non-farmers can use agricultural techniques for gardening success.
CFWF presented 44 awards in 14 categories at its awards banquet held in Edmonton, Alberta on September 12. The judging panel included journalism professors and editors from Canadian and US mainstream farm and non-farm publications. The CFWF represents approximately 400 English language agricultural journalists, broadcasters and communicators across Canada.

Being presented with my award by Jay Whetter.

Congratulations Lilian – I’m very proud of you, and not the least bit surprised that you won an award. You rock!
