"Canada has some of the most stringent pesticide laws in Canada... Organic is not neccessarily the way to go, number one the majority of consumers would not be able to afford the added cost that comes with purchasing organic. Number two farmers have to take courses in how to properly apply pesticides and it is in their best interest to use as little as possible due to the extreme cost that pesticides are to the farmers bottom line, and thirdly if the entire world went organic, there would not be enough food to go around as growing food organically reduces the yield 30 to 40 percent"Sometimes being the farm kid is hard, but someone has to do it, especially in a class of mostly urbanite kids.Great post Lilian!

Here is a little speech that I gave in my class the other day in response to a discussion about pesticides:<br

It would be great if urban and rural dwellers could have a better understanding of each others circumstances and where they are coming from. I think it would go a long way to dispelling many myths and misconceptions!

Hi Jen – thanks for the comment.
