The connection of this post to food and farming is tenuous at best, but I do somehow feel the need to share it.
The year ended on a sad note for Canada with the news of five more deaths in Afghanistan on December 30th. Of particular interest is the fact that one of the dead was a Canadian reporter, Michelle Lang.
I am always saddened when I hear or read of more Canadian deaths in Afghanistan but this one has touched me more so than most others. Perhaps it’s because she’s the same age as I am. Or perhaps it’s because of a shared passion for writing and telling stories. Or perhaps even because she spent sometime covering the ag beat at the Regina Leader-Post.
Much is being written and reported on her but one article I particularly enjoyed reading was by her colleagues at the Calgary Herald.
