One of the most read posts on this blog continues to be one that I wrote about a year and a half ago, called “The true story of KFC chickens”.
I had been a part of an annual food writer tour run by AGCare and the Ontario Farm Animal Council of a farm in the Ottawa area that raises chickens destined for KFC, aka Kentucky Fried Chicken. I wrote about what I heard, saw and experienced that day – and posted a few photos of our visit.
Someone commented recently, though, that I hadn’t included any photos of actual chickens inside a barn and questioned whether there was really any truth to what I was saying.
Fair point and one well taken. Most of my interior barn shots that day hadn’t turned out very well due to my less than professional photography skills – but here now are some real photos of real birds in a real Canadian chicken barn.

Thanks to Chicken Farmers of Canada for helping me out with sourcing post-worthy photos!
