Upcoming presentation to focus on agriculture and activists

Farmers sometimes get a little upset at how their livelihoods are depicted in urban media and on the Internet. They feel their side of the story isn’t being told, which leads consumers to have unfair or incomplete notions of food and farming.

Old world to new

How things can change in a week.

Last week I was on a mountainside in Austria, photographing cows and learning about how local farmers are keeping history and tradition alive in the next generation.

Today I’m about as far from tradition and that Old World mountainside as I can get – in the glitz and glam of that New World capital of excess, Las Vegas, attending a conference on blogging and new media. Continue reading Old world to new

Farm writers elect president

Kelly DaynardA face familiar to Ontario agriculture is the new president of the Eastern Canada Farm Writers Association (ECFWA). Kelly Daynard, Program Manager and Communications Specialist with the Ontario Farm Animal Council, assumed the helm of ECFWA at its annual general meeting yesterday in Cambridge following a three year term as First Vice President. She took over from outgoing President Lilian Schaer, Executive Director of AGCare, who led the organization for the past three years.
