Making farming exciting and cool
It’s modern, innovative and exciting – words we all try to associate with agriculture when we talk to the public about what we do and where our food comes from.
In this case, the “it” is FarmzOnWheelz, a brand new mobile educational display that helps teenagers and their families get an up-close and personal look at what’s cool about farming.
The $950,000 exhibit, the first of its kind in Canada, made its debut at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, Ontario, which wrapped up yesterday.
As visitors make their way through the 400 square foot exhibit, which was designed and built by the Ontario Science Centre, they can explore interactive components like “From Farming Fuels the Future” to “What’s On Your Plate”, and experience for themselves how science and technology impacts agriculture.
The project was spearheaded by the Ontario Farm Animal Council with funding from numerous industry partners as well as Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Ontario Market Investment Fund.
The exhibit will also be on display at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair this November in Toronto. Photos courtesy of the Ontario Farm Animal Council.
